THE WEAKLY 056

The Weakly number fifty six.

Welcome friends, foes and people with ugly toes.

How is everyone?! Hope you had a good week so far and chance to relax and enjoy some time away from work. A weird thing I have noticed ever since we got back from Thailand, I sleep a lot longer than before. Something has effed up my rhythm I feel like. I mean, I am up when I need to, but sleep longer when I have no specific plans and am quite tired in the mornings. Maybe it’s just winter being more annoying than normally.
With the Photo Post this week we are back in good ol’ Cologne. It is interesting how my plan slowly starts to come together. Concentrating a bit more while doing my walks I am coming up with some more interesting ideas I am going to try out.

A bit more Youtubing and so on this week, which I am not sure what make the difference here, but hey. It is what it is. On the Movie side of things I started with Ballerina, Korean Revenge Flick, nothing crazy, but right for the task of watching more movies while at the computer. Really have to say, that my new desk setup really helps with that a lot. Velvet Buzzsaw was next, a very bizarre yet fun satire on the art world. Reminded me a lot of The Neon Demon, but with a lot more humor. Next up was a Korean SciFi Film I’ve had on my Watchlist for a while, Space Sweepers. A bit B-Movie-ish in terms of Budget and so on, but fun. Finally got to watch The Holdovers yesterday. I was so looking forward to it and it did not disappoint. What a beautiful Movie. Certainly my fav of the past few month if not longer. Last but not least The French Connection. Hadn’t watched it in a long long time over 10 years at least if not close to 20. The N-Bomb drop right in the beginning was a bit off-putting, but it is a great and for 1971 fast paced Thriller.
Another Highlight besides The Holdovers this week was the return of True Detective with its fourth Season. Man oh man, already off to a fantastic start.
Also another thing I really enjoyed is Jason Mamomas On the Roam. I am a fan of him and his work and this combines all that and his love for great craft. A lot of motorcycle stuff I do not really care much about, but seeing those amazing people work on their stuff is wonderful and if you are not really into that at all, but enjoy photography, at least check out Episode two were Jason meets and hangs out with Todd Hido. That was such a beautiful vignette. Ok, I know we are running long here, but one more mention I want to leave you with is the first Livestream on Netflix that I at least know of. I am a huge fan of David Chang and he has a whole bunch of Shows here and there, but this new thing Dinnertime with David Chang is a lot more fun than at least his latest shows as it is basically just a Livestream of him cooking for some friends. Sure the friends are Celebrities, but hey. And so much better than the also just released other TV Show with Chrissy Teigen. That was not fun at all.

After finishing The Maid last week I did jump into Andy Weirs Project Hail Mary. Very Andy Weir, very cool so far!

This week I did not forget to take at least a couple photos in Pottery Class. I did clean up an older piece Alex had made when she was still joining me and finished my little incense thingy holder. I should be good to hold the sticks and the cones.

On top of that I am finally started Fusion360 back up, working on a new version of my potters mark, but also want to build a few small little Camera Gadgets to prints. I got a new resin for my resin printer which is supposed to be “ABS-Like”. I hope it will make my little Thumb-Rests I designed a bit more durable as well, but we will see. The regular resin I have used so far is very rigid, but also very brittle. So it is going to be interesting with my Potters Mark to see if it is as useful. For the Thumb-Rest I hope it will prevent the little Skyscrapers and Godzilla to break of, but yeah I will be testing it. Wish me luck. I also printed a little duct for my resin printer so the fumes do not stick around the workshop too much, but this new ABS-Like stuff has at least no real smell. Not sure why and how that is, but glad for it. While printing that little duct thing I realised again how difficult it is to get my FDM printer calibrated properly. Ever since I needed to switch out the hot-end it has been a weird ride and I am not sure why, but I will keep trying. Even-though I really want to upgrad this or next year to a more modern and quicker machine. It really is annoying that a small piece like that needed around eleven hours to print and it did not even come out super clean or anything.

Have a nice Sunday and…
stay safe out there, be kind, to others, to yourself.
T.

Also here you can find my friends post of this week with whom?(!?!?) I entered into this weekly arrangement. It will be updated as they link their posts. Some are in German btw.
